The Northern Territory Emergency Service will be encouraging the public to host a morning tea on WOW Day to say "thankyou" to all emergency service volunteers around Australia. The NT Police, Fire and Emergency Services will share your photos on Facebook and Instagram.

Letters of kindness - Darwin, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs

For National Volunteer Week, the Northern Territory Emergency Service will have 'Letters of Kindness Stations' set up at local libraries across the Greater Darwin, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek areas. Our letter boxes will also be located at Tennant Creek Hospital and Alice Springs Bunnings. This will give you an opportunity to write a letter of thanks to our very special NT Emergency Service volunteers.


Each letter will be personally delivered to a NT SES volunteer along with a certificate of appreciation.


Tug-of-War-Event - Alice Springs

NT SES Volunteers and staff are challenging the police and fire members to our annual WOW Day (Wear Orange Wednesday) Tug-Of-War event. The police currently hold the trophy from 2019. Who is going to be the winner of the WOW Day tri-service trophy for 2023!

So head on down to the Alice Springs Town Council lawns on Wednesday 18 May for what it sure to be an entertaining afternoon for all.

The Northern Territory Emergency Service and Volunteering NT will partner up and host an event for volunteers at Parliament House.




NT Emergency Service

The Northern Territory Emergency Service (NTES) comprises of volunteers and staff who provide a response capability within each region across the Territory.


There are approximately 300 NTES volunteers in the Territory operating from around 30 regional units. The northern region of the NT manages 20 units, consisting of 214 volunteers, while the southern region maintain 11 units, consisting of a force of 91 volunteers.


There are currently 19 permanent staff across the Territory who coordinate the NTES Volunteers from four offices: Territory Headquarters in Berrimah, Darwin; Katherine office; Tennant Creek office and Southern Region Headquarters in Alice Springs.
